The North Indian style chart

Let us take a look at your actual horoscope kundali (chart): Right now you are looking at your Jyotish chart formatted in the North Indian chart style. As you see, there are 12 individual sections in the horoscope. These sections are the bhavas (houses), and each house is fully occupied by one of the signs. The signs are marked within the bhavas (houses) with numerals. The numbering system used for marking the signs reflects the natural order of the signs (i.e. 1 – for Aries, 2 – for Taurus, 3 – for Gemini, 4 – for Cancer and so on).

The house counting sequence follows a counterclockwise direction, and so does the sign sequence within the chart. The box at the center top of the chart is called the First house. The sign occupying the first house is called the Ascendant. Your Ascendant is the sign which was rising at the eastern horizon at the time of your birth. The sign is indicated by its corresponding number. In your chart, the first house is marked with number 4, which indicates the sign of Cancer. Therefore, your Ascendant is Cancer. The box on the left of the first house is called the second house. The number 2 in that house represents the sign of Taurus. Next to it is the third house, then the fourth, and so on up to the twelfth house. The sequential order of the houses is FIXED in the North India chart format. The top center box is always the first house and the bottom center one is always the seventh. When using the North Indian style chart you should also remember that the numbers within the houses represent the sign numbers, not the numbers of the houses. For your convenience, here is a complete verview: Each of the grahas (planets) is placed in one of the bhavas (houses). The planets are marked in the chart with their abbreviated names. Now we see from the picture of your chart, which houses your planets occupy. The Sun, indicated by the letters Su, is in house 7. The Moon (Mo) is in house 2. Mars (Ma) is in house 7. Mercury (Me) is in house 6. Jupiter (Ju) is in house 9. Venus (Ve) is in house 5. Saturn (Sa) is in house 3. Rahu (Ra) is in house 6. Ketu (Ke) is in house 12. Once again, you should not confuse the house numbers with the numbers that you see in your chart. The numbers in the houses represent the signs that occupy those houses. The houses must be counted in a counterclockwise direction from the 1st house, which is the top center house. The houses should be counted inclusively of the house you are counting from. For example the 3rd house is located three houses away from the first one, not two, and 11th house is 5 houses away from the 7th, not four. Even though within this tutorial we will always reference your chart in the North Indian format, you should learn the difference between North and South Indian chart styles. The Nakshatras

Just like the Rashis, the Nakshatras also break up the zodiac into equally spaced segments. There are 27 Nakshatras, each taking up 13’20″. The Nakshatras are also called Lunar mansions, as the Nakshatra position of the Moon is an important use of Nakshatras. Each Nakshatra has a symbol, various attributes, and a planetary ruler. In order to clarify the use of Nakshatras, we will first explain the major differences between the use of Rashis and Nakshtras. Rashis are used to break up the chart into houses, as one Rashi corresponds to one house (the topic of the following lesson). Nakshatras do not correspond to any house, or to anything comparable. – The attributes of the Rashis are highly symmetric, with the order of male-female, and movable-fixed-dual repeating in a consistent pattern. The attributes of the Nakshatras are not like that at all, and their significance is not easily derived from a mathematical pattern as in the case of the Rashis. – Rashis are fully responsible for the dignity of the Graha, such as being in exaltation, in Moolatrikona etc. Nakshatras play no role at all in determining the dignity or any other attribute of the Grahas. – Rashis are used in the birth chart as well as in the divisional charts (vargas). Nakshatras are generally only used in the birthchart, and not in the divisional charts. – Rashis are used in many of the strength calculations that constitute ShadBala, but Nakshatras are not used at all. – The astronomically corresponding factor to a Rashi is the Solar month, whereas the Nakshatra is closest to the lunar day. (It takes one month for the Sun to pass through one sign, and it takes one day for the Moon to pass through one Nakshatra.) – Signs aspect each other. Nakshatras do not have aspects. – Nakshatras play a major role in the timing of the chart, and their order acts like a clock, activating the effects of the Grahas in the chart in a very particular order. The rashis also have a similar relationship to the Grahas, but much less emphasized/used. In general, one can say that the Rashis divide the zodiac to reveal more visible, objective aspects of the chart, and create a division of houses that represent the major areas of life where the Grahas act in. Nakshatras divide the zodiac to reveal a more subjective cycle that is particularly relevant to understand our awareness and perception. The qualities of the Nakshatras are mostly derived from the symbols and mythological associations indicated in the Vedas. The accuracy and validity of these derived qualities can only be verified by the practicing astrologer. The most wide spread use of Nakshatras is through the unique system of dashas. Dashas are planetary cycles that divide life in major time periods, and each of those time periods in sub periods. Each dasha period has a precise starting and ending date, and during that period the influence of one of the Grahas (the dasha lord) will be felt more pronounced. Therefore, the prime use of the Nakshatras is to determine when the Rashi-based interpretations will manifest! The dasha system forms the link between our nakshatra based cycle of experience that activates our rashi based potential. For example, your first dasha cycle was of Sun, so your initial experience in life was strongly directed by Sun. To know what that means in concrete terms, you have to analyze it’s Rashi based position; Sun is in Capricorn, and in the 7th h.. The topic on dashas will be elaborately discussed in a future chapter. These are the 27 nakshatras and their dasha lords: 1. Ashwini 2. Bharani 3. Krittika 4. Rohini 5. Mrigashira 6. Ardra 7. Punarvasu 8. Pusya 9. Ashlesha 10. Magha 11. Poorva Phalguni 12. Uttara Phalguni 13. Hasta 14. Chitra 15. Swati 16. Vishaka 17. Anuradha 18. Jyestha 19. Moola 20. Poorvashadha 21. Uttarashadha 22. Shravana 23. Dhanishta 24. Shatabisha 25. Poorvabhadrapada 26. Uttarabhadrapada 27. Revati For the purpose of Muhurta, the Brihat Samhita classifies the Nakshatras in some broad groups that characterize their nature. Each group is favorable for certain types of events, and these events give you a fairly good picture of the quality of that group: Dhruva (fixed) Nakshatras The three Uttaras and Rohini are called Dhruva or Fixed. To be used for coronations, expiatory rituals, planting of trees, laying the foundation of towns, commencement of meritorious deeds, sowing seeds and other permanent things. Tikshna/Daruna (dreadful): Mula, Ardra, Jyestha and Ashlesha. These are good for success in attacks, incantations, raising of goblins, imprisonment of others, murder, separation of friends and alliance with kings and the like. So if you care for raising a goblin, wait until the Moon is in one of those nakshatras. Ugra (Fierce) The three Purvas (Purvaphalguni, Purvasadha and Purvabhadrapada), Bharani and Magha. They are to be used with success in ruining enemies, destruction, deceit, imprisoning, poisoning, arson, striking with weapons and murders and the like. Ksipra (Swift) Hasta, Ashwini, and Pushya (Abhijit too) are termed Ksipra or Swift. They are beneficial for trade, sensual sports, education, decorations (or making ornaments), fine arts, skilled labor (like carpentry, smithy etc.), medical treatment, journey and the like (taking or giving loan etc.). Mrdu (Tender) Anuradha, Chitra, Revati and Mrigasira. They are used with advantage in making friends, sexual union, use of garments and ornaments, performance of auspicious ceremonies (like marriage, Upanayana and Cudakarana) and singing. Mrdutikshna/ Sadharana (Tender-Dreadful) Krittika and Vishaka. These yield mixed results. Cara (Temporary) Shrvana, Dhanistha, Shatabhisa, Punarvasu and Swati. These are beneficial for emphemoral things. We will now elaborate on the details of each Nakshatra. Since there is no one, complete authentic source on Nakshatras, we have to gather our information from several sources. Parashara does not mention nakshatras for interpretive purposes at all. The Brihat Samhita uses Nakshatras in various ways related to mundane astrology (part of the Samhita branch of Astrology). In the Brihat Jataka interpretations are given for the Moon in the various Nakshatras. Since the Moon rules the mind and emotions, the interpretations should be read as already being adjusted for the limitation of the Moon’s significations. The full significance of the Nakshatra is greater than that.

First is direct government job Yoga: – When Sun along with Mars is placed in 2nd, 10th or 11th house or the lord of these houses (2nd, 10th or 11th house) & are placed in any of these houses and also if it aspects these houses (2nd, 10th or 11th house) when placed in 4th or 5th house but not in 8th house. From 4th & 5th house it aspects 10th or 11th houses respectively which is considered good but not from 8th house when it aspects 2nd house which is not considered good. Hence for direct job of government means their officers are having power of government. The degree of Sun & Mars are further responsible for how much power that officer would be having during service i.e. an IAS/IPS/Foreign Services or any other post both are in this category. It means the strength/degree & placements of Sun & Mars give powers to the officer working as IAS, IPS OR EVEN a CLEACK/PEON in a Direct Government job.
2. Second is Semi Government/Teaching jobs: – In this case Sun remains the main planet along with Jupiter. In this case yoga again Sun & Mercury are main planets. When Sun along with Mercury is placed in 2nd, 10th or 11th house or been the lord of these houses (2nd,10th or 11th house) are placed in any of these or even if it aspects these houses. This combination of Sun, Mercury & Jupiter help to setup a industrial unit with the help of government loan / or subsidy. Under this yoga professionals like C.A, CS and Tax consultant are considered even employees working in government undertaking banks. Beneficiaries from Government under self employments schemes, rozgaar yojna are results of this yoga.
4. Forth is MLA, MP or representative of local bodies:- In this yoga Sun is in Lagna and combination of Jupiter & Moon in lagan or Sun placed in 2nd, 10th or 11th house or lord of these houses along with Jupiter & Moon with Sun or placed in these house with or aspects these houses. Here Sun play the role of a leader from 1st house.
5. Fifth is PM or President: – These are the post which is real Government means Head of Government. here Sun, Moon & Jupiter play most important roll i.e. Sun in lagan along with Jupiter & Moon with sun in lagan or aspects lagan or Sun When Sun in is lagna and Jupiter & Moon are in trine /Trikon
6. Sixth is Jail yog: – There is combination of plants Sun & Rahu. In this yoga if Sun is in sixth house with Rahu or Rahu is in 12th house & aspects Sun. When Sun is placed in 12th house than either with Rahu in 12th house or aspects Sun from 6th house. This yoga makes a person to have food & shelter from government funds.

Saturn – Places in Rashi during transit which has an influence on the Moon rashi, -1, +1. Therefore, total duration is seven and half years. (2 ½, 2 ½, 2 ½,). Saturn means difficulties and struggle & has   influence on Moon (Heart). It basically gives mind upset and problems in general in case person behaviour is not as per DO and DONT DO’S of life (Law of Land, Law of Nature, Law of Honesty, Law of Justice to working Class, Drinks and Non-Vegetarian). As Saturn is slowest planet among all but give fastest results in Sadhesati (within 24 hours). So normally during Saturn period, people have sufferings in life but Saturn can make oneself KING in Sadhesati if person follow DO and DONT DO’S of life, depends on placement & its strength in D1 aong with Navamsha. This means a big downfall but in rare cases upward results for very few people as these days people don’t follow DOS and DONT DO’S of life.
Three periods of Sadhesati
I)  Part 1 1^st 2 ^½yearsare difficult as difficulty starts,  so feeling is more also it give health problems during this period it  less than 2^nd part.
II) Part 2 starts after 2^½years. This is really hard time as it passes over MOON placement of D1, so most difficult because direct influence on moon/mother/heart.
III)  Less difficult as Saturn ages and passing away.
Sadhesati comes once every 30 years.

As explained in the some other post, the Sun is regarded as the generator of power that gives spirit and life to all planets, the Moon is considered to be the conductor of power lent by Sun and rules over the lives of the beings on this earth. Sun represents individuality, whereas Moon shows one’s personality.

Moon governs over impregnation, conception, birth of a child and the animal instinct. She represents mother, mother’s family, grandmother, old women, horse, navigation, agricultural land, Lord Shiva, love, kindness, mental peace, heart, services rendered for other’s welfare and the 4th house. 
The Moon’s effect comes up in the 16th, 51st and 86th year of the native and similarly its 1st cycle falls in the 24th year, the 2nd in the 49th year and the 3rd cycle falls in the 94th year of the native. The Jupiter, Sun and Mars are Moon’s friends, whereas Saturn, Rahu and Ketu are inimical to her. For her protection, the Moon sacrifices her friendly planets – Sun, Mars or Jupiter. Moon is the Lord of 4th house, stands exalted in the 2nd house of Taurus and becomes debilitated in the 8th house of Scorpio. The Moon provides very good results if placed in houses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9 whereas the 6th, 8th, 10th, 11th and 12th houses are bad for the Moon. The death of a domestic milch animal or a horse, drying up of a person’s well or pond, the loss of the senses of touching and feeling are the signs of moon turning malefic. 
The placement of the Ketu in the 4th house causes Matri Rina i.e. mother’s debt. In such a situation pieces of silver of equal weight and size be collected from every member of the family and the same should be thrown together into the running water of a river. Consequently all the ill effects would be warded off. 
Moon in 1st House 
In general, the 1st house belongs to Mars and Sun. When the moon is also placed therein, this house will come under the combined influences of the Mars, the Sun and the Moon i.e. all the 3 mutual friends will be treated as occupants of this house. The Sun and Mars will extend all friendly support to their natural friend Moon placed on the throne i.e. the ascendant house. 
Such native will be soft-hearted and will inherit all the traits and qualities of his mother. He will be either the eldest brother or will certainly be treated so. As long as the native receives the blessings of his mother and keeps her happy, he will continue to rise and prosper in every way. 
The things and the relatives as represented by Mercury, who is inimical to Moon, will prove harmful to the native, e.g., the sister-in-law and the green color will affect adversely. Hence it is better to keep away from them. 
Burning milk (for making Khoya) or selling milk for profit would reduce or minimize the power of the Moon placed in the 1st house, which means that the native’s life and property would be destroyed if he engages himself in such activities. Such a native should serve others with water and milk freely for long life and all round prosperity. Such a native will get a life of about 90 years and will be bestowed with honors and fame by the Govt. 
Remedies           
1. Do not marry between the age of 24 and  27   years, i.e., marry either before 24 years of age or after 27 years of age. 
2. Do not build a house out of your earnings between 24 and 27 years of age. 
3. Keep away from the green color and sister-in-law. Do not keep a silver pot or kettle with a snout (Toti) in it in the house. 
4. Offer water to the roots of a Banyan tree whenever you can  afford. 
5. Insert copper nails on the four corners of your bed. 
6. Whenever crossing a river, always throw coins in it for the

    welfare of your children. 
7. Always keep a silver Thali in your house.        
8. Use Silver pots for drinking water or milk and avoid the use of  glassware for the same. 
Moon in 2nd House 
The results of the 2nd house, when Moon is placed therein, will be influenced by Jupiter, Venus and the Moon, because this is the Puckka Ghar, the permanent house of Jupiter and Venus is the lord of the second Rashi Taurus. The Moon gives very good results in this house, as it becomes very strong here because of the friendly support of Jupiter against Venus. 
Such a native may not have sisters, but will certainly be having brothers. In case he doesn’t have, his wife will certainly have brothers. He will certainly receive his due share in parental properties. Whatever be the planetary position otherwise, but the Moon here will ensure male offspring to the native. 
The native will receive good education, which will add to his fortune. The Business associated with the things of the Moon will prove highly advantageous. He may be a reputed teacher also. 
The Ketu placed in the 12th house will cause eclipse of the Moon here, which will deprive the native either of good education or of male children. 
Remedies           
  1. Temple within the native’s house may deprive the native of male issue.        
2. The things associated with the Moon, i.e., silver, rice,

 non-cemented floor of the house, the mother and old women  and their blessings will prove very lucky for the native.         
  3. Offering green color clothes to small girls continuously     for 43  days. 
  4. Place the things associated with the Moon into the foundation of  your house, e.g., a square piece of silver. 
Moon in 3rd House 
The results of the 3rd house, when the Moon is placed therein, will be influenced by the Mars, Mercury and Moon. Here the Moon proves highly beneficial to ensure a long life and great wealth or riches for the native. 
If there are no planets in the 9th and 11th houses, then Mars and Venus will give good results to the native because of the Moon being in the 3rd house. 
With the advancement of the native’s education and learning, the economic condition of his father will deteriorate, but without affecting his education adversely. If Ketu’s placing in the horoscope is auspicious and not harming the Moon in the 3rd, the education of the native will bear good fruits and prove advantageous in every manner. 
If the Moon is malefic, it will cause great loss of wealth and money at the age of the malefic planet placed in the 9th house. 
Remedies

          
     1. Offer in donation the things associated with the Moon, e.g., silver or rice, after the birth of a daughter and the things associated with the Sun e.g., wheat and jaggery when a         son is born.

    2. Do not make use of your daughter’s money and wealth.

    3. To avoid the evil effects of a malefic planet in the 8th house, serve the guests and others by offering them milk and water freely.

    4. Worshipping Goddess Durga and obtaining the blessings of small girls by touching their feet after serving them food and sweets. 
Moon in 4th House 
The results of the 4th house are the general product of the total influences of Moon, the lord of the 4th Rashi Cancer and the permanent resident of the 4th house. Here the Moon becomes very strong and powerful in every manner. 
The use of, and association with the things represented by the Moon will prove highly beneficial to the native. Offer milk in place of water to the guests. Obtain blessings of your mother or the elderly women by touching their feet. The 4th house is the river of income which will continue to increase expenditure. In other words, expenditure will augment income. 
The native will be a reputed and honored person with soft heart and all sorts of riches. He will inherit all the traits and qualities of his mother and will face the problems of life boldly like a lion. He will receive honor and favors from the government along with riches and will provide peace and shelter to others. 
Good education will be ensured for the native. If Jupiter is placed in the 6th house and Moon in the 4th, parental profession will suit him. If a person has mortgaged certain valuables to the native, he will never come back to demand it. 
If Moon be placed with 4 planets in the 4th house, the native will be economically very strong and wealthy. The male planets will help the native like sons and the female planets like daughters. 
Remedies
1. Selling of milk for profit and burning of milk for making Khoya,  etc., will have a very adverse effects on income, life span  and mental peace.
2. Adultery and flirtation will be seriously detrimental to the

    native’s reputation and prospects of wealth gains.
3. The more the expenses, the more the income. 
4. Before beginning any auspicious or new work, place a pitcher or  any container filled with milk in the house.
5. For warding off the evil generated by the Jupiter placed in the 10th house, the native should visit places of worship along with his grandfather and offer their oblations by placing their forehead at the feet of the deity. 
Moon in 5th House 
The results of the 5th house, when the Moon is placed therein, will be influenced by the Sun, the Ketu and the Moon. The native will adopt just and right means to earn wealth and will not yield to wrong doing. He may not do well in business but certainly receive favors and honors from the government. Anyone supported by him will win. 
The Moon in the 5th house will give 5 sons if the Ketu is well placed and benefic even if the Moon is joined by malefic planets. By his education and learning the native will undertake several measures for others welfare, but the others will not do good to him. 
Further, the native will be destroyed if he becomes greedy and selfish. If he fails to keep his plans a secret, his own men will damage him seriously. 
Remedies 
1. Keep control over your tongue. Never use abusive

    language to ward off troubles.

2. Avoid becoming greedy and over selfish.

3. Deceit and dishonesty towards others will affect you

    adversely.

4. Acting upon the advice of another person before trying to

    harm anybody will ensure very good results and a life of

    about 100 years.

5. Public service will enhance income and reputation of the

    native. 
Moon in 6th House 
This house is affected by the Mercury and Ketu. The Moon in this house will be affected by the planets placed in the 2nd, 8th, 12th and 4th houses. The native will receive education with obstacles and will have to struggle a lot for reaping the benefits of his educational achievements. 
If the Moon is placed in the 6th, 2nd, 4th, 8th and 12th houses it is auspicious. The native would enliven a dying person by putting a few drops of water in his mouth. 
But if the Moon is malefic in the 6th house and Mercury is placed in the 2nd or 12th house, the native will have suicidal tendencies. Similarly, if the Moon is malefic and the Sun is placed in the 12th house, then the native or his wife or both will have severe eye defects and troubles. 
Remedies 
1. Serve milk to your father with your own hands.

2. Never take milk during night. But intake of milk during day time and use of even curd and cheese during night is permissible.

3. Do not offer milk as donation. It can be given only  at religious places of worship.

4. Digging of wells for public will destroy the issues, but

    digging of wells in a hospital or within the premises of

    cremation ground will not be harmful. 
Moon in 7th house 
The 7th house belongs to Venus and Mercury. When the Moon is placed here, the results of this house will be affected by the Venus, Mercury and Moon. Venus and Mercury combined together give the effects of the Sun. The 1st house aspects the 7th house. Consequently the rays of the Sun from the 1st house would be enlightening the Moon if placed in the 7th, which means that the things and the relatives represented by the Moon will provide highly beneficial and good results. 
Educational achievements will prove fruitful for earning money or wealth. He may or may not have properties but will certainly have cash money in hand always. He will have good potential for being a poet or astrologer, or else he will be characterless and will have great love for mysticism and spiritualism. 
The 7th Moon also denotes conflict between the native’s wife and mother, adverse effects in milk trade. Disobedience towards mother will cause overall tensions and troubles. 
Remedies 
1. Avoid marriage in the 24th year of your life.

2. Always your mother keep happy.

3. Never sell milk or water for profit.

4. Do not burn milk for making Khoya.

5. Ensure that in marriage your wife brings silver and rice with her from her parents, equal to her weight. 
Moon in 8th House 
This house belongs to Mars and Saturn. The Moon here affects the education of the native adversely, but if education goes well the native’s mother’s life will be shortened and very often such a native loses both -education and the mother. However, the evil effects of the Moon in the 7th house will be mitigated if Jupiter and Saturn be placed in the 2nd house. 
The 7th Moon often deprives the native of his parental properties. If there is a well or pond adjacent to the parental property of the native, he will receive adverse results of the Moon all through his life. 
Remedies 
1. Avoid gambling and flirting.

2. Perform Shraddha ceremony for to your ancestors.

3. Do not build any house after covering a well with roof.

4. Obtain blessings of the old men and children by touching their feet.

5. Bring water from the well or water tap situated within the boundaries of a cremation ground and place it within your house. It will ward off all the evils generated by the Moon in the 7th house.

6. Offer gram and pulse in places of worship. 
Moon in 9th House 
The 9th house belongs to Jupiter, who is a great friend of the Moon. Similarly, the business and things associated with the houses where Mercury and Ketu are placed will be strongly damaged. The Moon in the 12th houses causes a general fear in the native’s mind about numerous unforeseen troubles and dangers and thus destroys his sleep and peace of mind. Ketu in the 4th house will become weak and affect the native’s son and mother very adversely.

“Remedial Measures in Astrology”
The divine science of Vedic Astrology unfolds the trends of life and tells us in advance of the favorable times as well as of the unfavorable times. It tells us about the periods which provide success to our endeavors. Similarly, it tells us the periods and the types of sufferings one is likely to face, right at birth. There are diverse views about the sanctity of remedial measures. Some of the learned friends opine that no benefit is derived by the performance of remedial measures. While some others opine that the performance of remedial measure produces good results. The experience of the author, however, is that the performance of remedial measures does help. The birth chart indicates competence of performance of remedial measures for warding off the evil/malefic influences. The success in deriving benefic influences and warding off of evil/malefic influences by performing remedial measures depends on more than one factor. 
 
Firstly, one has to correctly find out the significator(s) which is/are afflicted or weak; secondly, selection of remedial measures for propitiating the afflicting planets and/or strengthening of weak planets; and thirdly, selecting appropriate time for initiating remedial measures. In the case of the houses which are weak and afflicted and are not aspected by a strong functional benefic planet, the chances of effectiveness of remedial measures are comparatively weak. A strong Jupiter or a strong Sun or strong planet acting like a Sun or a strong lord of the ninth house in the nativity is indicative of performance of astral remedies and benefits there from. The success also depends on the right conduct of both the astrologer advising these remedial measures and the person seeking consultation.
RELEVANCE When we read through the narration of Maharishi Parashara that the God has incarnated in the form of planets to confer on the living beings the results of their karma, we are confronted with the question of relevance of remedial measures to ward off the evil effects caused by the natal placement of planets on the basis of past karma. We find the mention of remedial measures for mitigating evils of inauspicious planetary combination in one’s chart are found in our scriptures as well as in the ancient astrological texts and commentaries including Brihat Parashara Hora. Their history can be traced to times immemorial. Prasna Marga links the miseries/evils in one’s life to the sins/bad deeds committed in the past/present life.In Ramcharitmanas, Sant Tulsidas says that the evils cannot be fully mitigated by donations, reciting of mantras, yagnas, etc. without the righteous conduct, which clearly indicates that before his time there used to be remedial measures in practice and that the right conduct is also an important element of the effectiveness of remedial measures. In his great work, he gives us clues on how to avoid evils. ‘Attachment’ is the cause of all sufferings. One cannot enjoy happiness so long as one does not attain contentment. In Kaliyuga, he mentioned mere devotion to the God helps in mitigating evils. He goes further and says that evils can only be destroyed by the grace of God. In Vedic Astrology we understand the phenomenon of the God’s grace coming through a strong Jupiter and/or a strong lord of the ninth house in the natal chart.As per Varahamihira, the evils can be removed by worship of learned persons, palliatives offered to planets, recitation of mantras, dana (donations), company of saintly persons, etc. Valmiki Rishi in his Ramayana also mentions a number of remedial measures. The role of remedial measures in Vedic Astrology is supreme. The indication of Vedic Astrology can be of use only if the unfavorable influences can be averted by remedial measures and the favorable influences can be enhanced.The remedial measures are prescribed for all the horoscopes interpreted by us and have been found to be useful to such an extent that the natives, who had planetary configurations for the dreaded diseases like cancer, could avoid these during the indicating sub-periods of planets creating such afflictions. However, a few illustrations are being given in this chapter, as well, to show the efficacy of the astral remedies in all walks of life. 
Female born 15th May, 1962, 1130Hrs, 26.29N 80.12E TZ 5:30 The native was having problems in conception after her marriage. Astrological help was sought. As there is no mooltrikona sign in the fifth house, we shall concentrate on the lord of the second house and Jupiter, the significator for progeny. No mooltrikona sign rises in the ascendant of sapthamsa in this case. The Sun being lord of the second house is weak as it is in the state of infancy.
